Christchurch, January 30 The following Wellington students have gained credit in the Junior Scholarship Examination :— C. N. Haslam and Mary Greenfield, Wellington College ; also by W, Currie and H. R. Hoop, Collegiate School, Wanganui. Auckland, January 30. The young man Ketchener, who shot himself at the National Bank at Pauranga is progressing satisfactorily towards re covery, and is quite conscious, and admits having perpetrated the rash act. It is expected he will be sufficiently recovered tomorrow so as to be removed home from I the bank. The bullet is not yet extracted from his bead. The Hon Mr Cadman arrived at Hamilton to day from Rotorua, and is receiving deputations from local bodies Nelson, January 30. At a meeting of the Nelson Jockey Club, it was decided to hold a meeting on the 23rd and 24th March, giving £500 in stakes. The General Sjnod opens tomorrow afternoon.
