A CASE OF SMALL POX. A BRAVE MAN'S MELANCHOLY FATE. (Per Press Association.) Melbourne, January 29. The Cloncury. which arrived from Free mantle, in Western Australia, to-day was quarantined. A sal on passenger is suffering from aoiall pox. The small-pox patient oil the Cloucurry became delirious on the voyage and fell overboard. The third officer was drowned in attempting to rescue him. Parliament has been prorogued till March 19. In the Governor's speech special reference was made to the Income Tax Bill and the improving l-evenue He hoped when the Tarifl Qommissioneyra re port, an effort would be made to improve trade by changes in the tariff without injuring the industries. The export trade presented a hopeful outlook. The Go vernor'B aud Ministers' Salaries Reduction Bill would be reserved for the Queen's assent.
