HERETAUNGA HACK MEETING.
(Per Press Association). Wellington, January 26. The Heretaunga Hack Racing Club held a meeting at the Hutt course today. The weather was fine and about 1000 people were present. The sum of £3905 was put through the machines. Results : — Trial Handicap— Trickery 1, Scrip 2, Inverness 3. Also ran— King's Own, Brooklyn, Steelking, Lady Gertrude. Scrip jumped away and led along the back stretch by a dozen lengths ; but, failing to last out the distance, was caught 50 yards from home by the favorite, who won by half a length, Inverness a poor third. Mime, 2min 32sec. Dividend, £2 ss. Flying Handicap— Slaiden 1, Kaahu 2, Uinslopogaas 3. Also ran ~ Voltaire, The Kinchin. Won all the way by a length. Time, lmin 182-sthsec. Dividend £7 10s. Heretaunga Handicap — Roger 1, Khaki 2. Also ran — Nimrod, Report, Queen Mab, Peter, Tramaunuku. Khaki appeared to be winning when the jockey stopped ridiug and Roger got up and won by a neck. Time, 2min 17-?>sec. 4Q Dividend, £2 12s. Glasgow Handicap, 50 soys ; 1£ miles. — Bouquet 1, Kaahu 2, The Miser o. Also ran — Princess Cole, Makomako, Inverness. Inverness led until near the straight, when Prosser's pair and Bouquet passed him, and the last-named finishing well, won all out by half a length. Time, 2min 16sec. Dividend, £7 2s. Welter Handicap — Trickery 1, Merryman '2, The Toad 3. Also ran— Master Key, Brooklyn, Inverness, Lady Gertrude.. Merryman carried on the running to the straight, where Trickery came with a wet sail and won easily by a length. Time, 2min 6sec. Dividend, £2 10s. Stewards' Handicap — Bouquet 1, Swordfish 2, The Miser 3. Also ran — Slaiden. Swordfish led to the turn, when Bouquet came away and won easily. Time, lmin 50sec. Dividend, £S 18s. Ladies' Bracelet— The Toad 1, Makomako 2, Roger U. Also ran — Farmer Boy. Won easily. Time, 2min ssec. Dividend, £3. Consolation Handicap — Swordfish 1, Kaahu 2, Princess Cole 3. Won all the way. Time, lmiu 47 l-sth sec. Dividend, £3.
