Cricket News.

O I A cricket match was played at Colyton ! on Saturday in one of Mr Nilsson's j paddocks, between teams representing the Colyton and Feilding Clubs, and, after a one-sided game, resulted in an easy win for the former by an innings and 58 runs. Considerable interest was attached to this game, as it was considered whichever team was defeated | would lose its chance for Cup honors, j Notwithstanding this fact, it was with ; the greatest difficulty a team could be got away from Feildiug. Six or seven of the first eleven, whose private duties prevented their playing, or the apparent fact fishing has greater charms than cricket, were absent. It was only at the last moment the officers of the Club were made aware that they would have to secure substitutes for two or three players. The team went away without a single first eleven bowler, and it is no wonder Colyton had such an easy win. It is possible that the first eleven would have been beaten, but then there would have been better play and some satisfaction in the defeat. It is a | strange thing that some members are very anxious to play on their own ground, but when they have to travel a few miles an excuse is sought for and fouud. Feilding went to the wicket first, and after a feeble stand were all out for 40. Colyton followed and gave the visitors a lively time leather hunting, although j the bowlers were continually changed. In their second innings Feilding was completely disorganised, and were all out for 37. Mrs Nilsson kindly provided afternoon tea for the players. Following are the scores : — Feill»ing, Ist innings.
