The Wool Market.
o RISE IN PRICES. (Per Press Association.) London, January 24. Wool has been improving all the week. The tone of the sales is now very good, and the opening decline has been nearly recovered. Superior merinos are fully equal to December prices, and there is / very keen bidding all round. A large quantity of South African is being offered. American buyers are taking the best lots. Christchuuch, January 24. The third wool sales of the season's series tO"k place to-day, 100,000 bales being offered of which three fourths were sold. Long wools and merinos steady with rather more competition for merino than at last sales. Half-breds were id per lb below December rates. Prices for medium to superior wools were as follows : — Greasy half bred fleece, s£d to 7^d ; cross bred, SJ-d to 7H ; long wool, 5d to to »Ad ; merino, A\d to 7d ; pieces and locks at December rates.
