* The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency report as under :— We held our annual Ram and Ewe Fair at the Show Grounds, Petone, when a catalogue comprising about 1200 rams and ewes was submitted, of which our pronbrtion was about 90.0, and we quitted qnder the hammer and sold privately about pne-half of tjie entries. The attendance W&s fairly Jarge, but from the first it was noticeable that buyers appeared to be in the minority, and thjs was borne out by the fact of large numbers of lots being passed in without eliciting a bid. In sympathy with everything else prices showed a decided drop since last year, and the demand for rams of j^adeupfced breed was limited. Best prices were qbtajned for one 4-tooth Romney Marsh on acggunt of the Hon Matthew Holmes which fell to ths nod of Mr A. Matthews, of Featherston, at 28 guineas ; ono stud 4-tooth Komney, on account of Mr Reid, of Elderslio, at 12 guineas, purchased by Mr J. Martin. r £\vo ve^y fine Romneys, the property | of Mr A. 0.
