Feilding Sports Committee.

A meeting of the Feilding Athletic Sports Committee was held last evening. A rough balance-sheet, showing a profit of £11 19s 5d on the last sports meeting, was read. The sports committee have now, with _31 on fixed deposit, a credit balance of J;4B 19s sd. After considerable discussion on the boys' walking event, it was resolved that the first three— -Haybittle, Toy and Reid— be disqualified, and that the first prize (Mr Scott's medal) be allotted to W. Rutherford, and the second (Mr Bastings' watch) to C. A. Wells. Votes of thanks were passed to Messrs T. R. Taylor aud J. H. Blackmore for acting as judges of the wrestling and siugle sticks events respectively. Resolved, That the Feildiug Cycling Club be allowed the use of the Committee's " property," provided such is returned to the storeroom in good order. Resolved, That the Secretary be instructed to write to the Secretary of the Feildiug Football Club, calling his attention to the annual expense this committee is put to iv repairing damage to the running track, and requesting them to place tbe ground in good order at the expiration of the football season. Failing their complying this committee will be compelled, with regret, to appeal to the Borough Council for protection. The Secretary was instructed to call a meeting of the committee at the earliest opportunity for the purpose of considering the advisableness or otherwise of forming this committee into a club. The means that the committee will discuss the suggestion and submit definite proposals to a public meeting.
