Captain Killatn, of the barque Star of of the East, reports having experienced a most unusual aerial disturbance on the Bth January when about 110 miles off Cape Campbell. Commander Little took the opportunity to give aJdat denial to the statement made by Colonel Fox with regard to a " round robin " having been signed for the removal of the officer commanding tbe district and said no such document ever existed. This Day. Joseph Edge, married, with a large family, was killed near Whangarei whilst tree felling. Oamaru, This Day. The cable referring to ihe Oamaru Harbour Board's bonds does not indicate any further default. The Board's interest due this mqjith has heep properly remitted. Gisborne, January 16* A sudden death occurred shortly after noon today, which has caused quite a shock in the community. Mr James Finlay, licensee of the Argyle Hotel, was ailing somewhat this morning. At noon hia malady . increased, and tho doctors were summoned, but before they arrived ho bad passed away. Death was due to angina pectoris.
