Birmingham Sports.
The second anniversary gathering of the Birmingham Druids Athletic Sports will be held on the sports ground on Friday next, January 18th. The nominations and handicaps for the handicap events have now been published and, given fine weather, there will, doubtless be a large attendance. The officials are sparing no pains to make the affair a pleasant outing and successful meeting. Coaches will run from Feilding in the morning in time to allow visitors or competitors to be on the ground when the first race is started. In the eyening a plain and fancy dress ball will be held in the Town Hall. " Bushman " sends us the following tips : — 100 Yards— l. Watts 1, R. McMurray 2, A. W. Watts 3. 220 Yards— l. Watts 1, A. W. Watts 2, R. McMurray 3. 440 Yards— l. Watts 1, Sangster 2, Byrne 3. Hurdles 220 Yards -A. W. Watts 1, F. Foster 2, W. O'Brien 8. Mile— J. Campbell 1, A. Foster 2, T. James 3. Half-Mile-E. Hall 1, E. Wyeth 2, W. Bell 3. Walk — A. Foster 1, F. Johanson 2, J. Johnson 3. Additions are made to Messrs Abraham and Williams Palmerston sale. Mrs Peter Thomson has just received a consignment of splendid apricots, from Nelson. John Cobbo is giving remarkably good value in men's all wool Colonial tweed suits ; they are really well made, and are being sold at 22s 6d acd 27b 6d net cash.
