Accidents and Fatalities.
(Per Press Association.) Napier. This Day. The dead body of Luke Husehorf was found at Tutaekara river, near Puketapu, on Saturday. At the inquest an open verdict was returned. j Timaru, This Day. Fred Hedge, an elderly man, well known years ago as a cross-country rider and trainer, was found drowned in the harbor yesterday. Supposed to be suicide. He had been hard up and despondent for some time past. Auckland, This Day. Thomas Brankin, a fireman, fejl between the ship Mamari and the wharf. His body was recovered, but life was extinct. It is supposed he struck the stringers. Deceased's mate states he was quite sober. Maeton, This Day. A Chinaman, named Ah Wong, com i| mitted suicide here early this morning. It is said he was in trouble about money matters, Dunedin, This Day. Thomas Boneman and John Robertson were drowned last night when attempting to board the dredge Dnnkeld in the Clutba river. Welli.sgtost, This Day. Mrs Kendalls, wife of a publican at Ngahauianga, was found dead in bed at 4 a.m. She had spoken to her husband two hours before complaining of a headache, but she refused to have a doctor thinking it was merely a temporary indisposition.
