SHEEP-WORRYING.

♦ Several cases have recently occurred where sheep have been worried and killed by &tray dogs. In one flock near Feilding a valuable ram was destroyed by dogs, and in an adjacent flock several ewes were killed. It is known that the dogs are the property of private persons — who do not own sheep or cattle — and who are indifferent as to the damage, which they are parties to by failing to keep their dogs on the chain. It is the intention of the sheepowners to lay abundance of poison on their land to extirpate the depredatora. Farmers have quite enough to put up with just now from low prices, sheepstealers, and depression in the markets generally for their produce, without being subjected to this further tax on them. We would suggest that Dog Tax collectors bo urged by the several local bodies to exert themselves in the direction of registration, as that generally leads to a diminunition in the uumber of useless curs.
