Squabble Over a Railway Appointment.
[Per Press Association.] London, January 11. At a meeting of the South Eastern Railway Company's shareholders, Sir G. Russell said Mr Eddy's claim to be appointed rested on a lot of musty testimonials and Australian not English experience. It would be the height of folly and almost criminal insanity to elect him. Mr Eddy's friends at the meeting repiidiated the aspersions upon him and declared he was an able and reliable man, who had been thrice tried successfully. The meeting unanimously passed a vote of confidence in the Directors and Sir Myres Fen ton, the general manager. The Times commenting on the action of the South Eastern Railway Company, says Sir George Russell, did not give sufficient credit to Mr Eddy, and despite the passing of the votes of confidence, it doubts if the mass of the shareholders are satisfied with the management of the line.
