A Colliers' Strike Imminent.

(Per Press Association,) Sydney, January 11. Affairs at Newcastle have taken a turn for the worse. Although other returns have to come in, the ballot at present shows — For a strike 1120, against 714. Under the rules a two-third majority is required. The owners declare they are indifferent whether the men go on strike or not, as they can obtain plenty of free labor. The Hetton miners have given no answer to the management, who announce in consequence that they wiil begin work on Monday with free labor. The Wallarah miners have struck, owing to the enforcement of the reduction in the hewing rates.
