Starting with a debit balance at the bank of £1237 12s 7d, the sum of £1050 was transferred from the deposit account, but despite this the year ends with a debit balance of £919 4s sd, showing the position to be worse by £713. Christchurch, January y At the Police Court to-day James Nelson- and Edward Forward were each fined £5 for laying totaiisator odds at the meeting of the Canterbury Trotting Club.
