Manawatu Road Board.

The ordinary monthly meeting of the above was held on Tuesday. Present — Wardens Knight (chairman), Stevens, and Luxford. COEKESPONDENCE. From Treasury, notifying that a voucher for payment of i'7so on account of the loan for Awahuri bridge had passed the Audit. —The secretary was instructed to apply for the loan from time to time as required. From Mr H. Hughes, requesting pay ment of £5 for land used for protection works at Awahuri bridge — The amount was passed for payment. MISCELLANEOUS. The Contract for metalling Longburn- [ Carupbelltown Road was allowed to stand over until nest meeting. On the motion of Warden Stevens, seconded by the Chairman, it was decided that a rent of 5s per acre per annum be charged from Ist January 1895, for all road frontages fenced in by ratepayers, and that the Inspector intimate to ratepayers that all road frontages must be paid for. The necessary protection works to be carried out at the Awahuri bridge were left in the hands of tbe Chairman and Engineer to deal with. The dog tax for the current year was fixed at 5s tor cattle and sheep dogs, and 10a for any other dog, and it was decided that half fees be remitted for all dogs registered on or before 31st March next. The Board then adjourned.
