Small Farm Associations.
A meeting of Delaware, Salisbury, Pohangina and Umutoi Small Farm Associations was held in the Theatre Royal at Ashurst on Saturday. I Mr D. Hughey, who occupied the chair said the meeting had been called for to consider what steps it would be advisable to take with regard to the demand for 12 months' rent now made by the Office, M r Wagstaff said he believed the rent and improvements dated from the signing of the lease, and, as no lease had been given, he thought the demand for 12 months' rent too strong. Mr Newall (Feilding) believed that we we were not to be called upon for rent til the end of two years. Mr Wildbore (Taonui) said that although the Association had Bi'gned a request to be put under the regulations of 1892, they had not yet been notified that they were under them, He had therefore made no provision for the payment of the 12 months' rent demanded, and he thought a petition should be sent to the Land Board about the matter. Mr Mackintosh ( Makino i said he had not received the notice until he received the bill for twelve months' rent and notice to have his improvements made within 30 days. Mr F. W. Whjbiey moved that the Government be asked to hand the yearly interest accruing from the 5s per acre added to the capital value of the land for road making to the Pohangina County Council, who will then spend it on the roads of the block from which it is paid, as the Association do not think it wise to spend it on 6ft tracks. — Seconded by Mr Gawlor, and carried Mr Whibley was instrncted by the meeting to send a copy of the resolutions to Mr Pirani for presentation at the next Board meeting. — Staudard.
