Feilding State School.
The monthly meeting of the School Committee was held in the Schoolhouse last evening. Present — Messrs Carthew (chairman), W. Gk Haytittle, H, Worsfold, R. 3 . Thompson, J. Taylor, W. Or. Shearer, and Dr Sorley. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed Correspondence was received from the Secretary of the Wanganui Education Board to the effect that the application for increased accommodation to the school will be considered. The ventilation to the school will be i attended to at once. Also, that the Committee were required to nominate two candidates to the vacancies on the Board caused by the retirement of Messrs Fry and Carson, and the Eer. | Mr Ross. The Chairman reported that Mr Fry, on behalf of the Education Board, , had visited the school with the Com mittee and he would report to the Board at next meeting. Two new tanks had been fitted up at the school. It was reported that the gross proceeds from the recent concert were £16 158 Id, which, after paying expenses, left a net profit of about £12. Resolved, That the Rev. Mr Ross and Mr Fry be nominated by this Committee to the vacancies on the Board. Messrs Thompson and Worsfold were appointed a visiting committee for the ensuing month. Proposed by Mr Worsfold, seconded by Mr Shearer, That a vote of thanks be accorded to Mr Hill, the headmaster, and those who assisted him to get up the recent concert. — Carried. Proposed by Mr Carthew, seconded by Mr Thompson, That Mr Hill be asked to repeat the concert after the examination, the proceeds to be devoted to procuring prizes for the children. — Carried. Accounts amounting to £5 13s were passed for payment and the meeting ad j ourned.
