RANGITIKEI RACES.

The attendance was fair and the weather fine. Results: — Greatford Stakes — Raugipuhi aud Monte Carlo dead heat, Westrnere 3. Also ran — Musket. This was one of the most exciting races ever seen on a racecourse in the colony. Musket made the running to the straight when Monte Carlo and Rangipuhi drew up, and were neck and neck till half waj' home, when Westmere came with a wet sail, and amid the greatest excitement the three passed the post in a line. The judges verdict, met with a very hostile demonstration. Dividend on Rangipuhi, L 2 7s ; dividend on Monte Carlo, L 2 14s. Hack Race -Allington 1, Hotspur 2, Loreli 3. Won by two lengths. Dividend, L 22 9s. Shorts Handicap— Gunboat 1, Cheque 2, Kalmia 3. Won on the post by a head. Dividend, L 5 18s. Consolation Handicap — Musket 1, Pihanga 2. Won easily. Dividend, LI 9s.
