BOROUGH COUNCIL ELECTION.

TO THE EDITOR OF THE STAR. Sir,— As there is a vacancy in the Borough Council, made by the election of Cr Sandilands to the Mayor's chair, would it not be the right thing to have the position filled by a representative of the only suburban centre belonging to Feilding? I am aware tbe Makiuo people have felt for some time that their interests ought to be more directly represented at tbe Council table than I hitherto. This seems a favorable time to respond to that feeling. I am led to believe that a gentleman residing in tbat locality, well qualifidd to be useful as a Councillor, is willing to accept the position and to perform its duties. I allude to Mr Cowie. It would be only graceful of the town proper to refrain from opposing his election, if nominated. I am, etc., Fair Play.
