♦ The Hall Committee decided on Sat* urday last to call for tenders for the erection of the building. Anyone inter* ested in the welfare of the place and desirous of supporting this venture should forward their contribution to Mr Welsh, the treasurer. It is earnestly requested that subscription be paid if possible by the 22nd inst. A very large congregation was present on Sunday last at the service in the school conducted by Mr F. Whibley, of Ashurst. Our regular lay reader, Mr J. Rausou, took Mr Whibley's place in the Ashurst Sunday School. Choir practice next Sunday at 8.80 p.m. Mr Carson, a member of tho Eduoa* tiou Board, was here a short time ago inspeoting the school reservoin tho town* ship. Tho sneak thief has been round here recontly stealing a gato, two chains and a padlock. It is time wo had a regular police patrol. — Standard.
