Sydney Morning Herald on the I Wairarapa Disaster.
(Per Press Association) Sydney, This Day. The Sydney Morning Herald, commenting on the verdict of the court of enquiry, says that it intensifies the feeling of indignation regarding the incidents of the deplorable disaster. The story of the wreck presents human nature in the meanest of its aspects. Negligence, recklessness, indifference and cruelty are written largely over the report. The disgraceful conduct of the officers in not properly and promptly us- 1 iug the boats is apparently to be attributed as much to ignorance as to inhumanity. The wreck is the most disgrace- ! ful (in all its incidents) of all that have ' ever been recorded iv connection with Australian seamanship-
