A Southern Flood.

jPer Press Association.! Christchurch, Dec. 3. News has been received that there is a heavy flood in the Rakaia river, and that the railway bridge has been damaged owing to scouring at the piles. The early train got across safely, but the [ later trains were stopped on each side of tho bridge, aud tho passengers walked over. The flood has evidently been caused by a Nor'-wester inciting the snow on the ranges on Saturday.
