ADVANCE IN PRICES. (Per Press Association). London. December 1 At the wool sales to-day thoro was a poor selection catalogue, but bidding continued spirited, and prices were well maintained. At the wool sales there is a good catalogue and bidding has a hardening tendency, in expectation of large withdrawals. Buyers show an increased demand, and for good sorts the bidding is spirited at id to id above opening rates. December 2. At Saturday's wool sales a better catalogue was presented. French and American dealer* are buying freely. Good wools are dearer than at tho opening rates. Tho N.Z.L. aud M.A.C. report for the month ending 28th November as follows : — Wool — The last scries of wool sales of tho current year opened in London on the 22nd inst., and cablo advices received on the 28rd inst. were not of an encouraging nature. Tho catalogues comprised 290,000 bales, of which 10,000 bales were forwarded to the manufacturing districts direct. Best prices showed a fall of about 7£ per cent on closing prices at previous sales. The colonial sales opened at Christchurch on tho* 23rd inst., when about 9000 bales were offered by the various brokers. In the face of tho cablo advico from London, buyers wore oxtremely cautious, and the greater part of tho cataloguo was passed in, aa owners' ideas of valuo wpre above buyers. Tho first 3ale is to bo held in Wellington on tho 7th prox., when a good catalogue will be nubmittod, the clip now coming forward frooly.
