Otara Bridge.

♦ A meeting of settlors in the Pember. ton district was held in the schoolhousc iv that township . ou Saturday last, to discuss the advisability of forming a special rating district for tho purpose of raising a loau of £626 towards the Otara bridge. Mr J. D. McGregor was voted to the chair, aud he explained at some length the advantages to be gained by having the bridge erected, and communication established with Ohingaiti. Ab tho Government had uot placed au additional .£1250 on the Estimates for the erection of the said bridge, it had bepn proposed by tho people of Ohingaiti that tho amount should bo raised as follows:— it92s in a special rating district in tho Kiwitea County, and a like amount by a loan over a Special Rating District in the Rangitikoi County. After several settlors had spokou ou the matter, it was resolved, on the motion of Mr Stcnt, seconded by Mr F. Pomberton, That a Special Rating District bo formed for the purpose of raisjng a loan towards tbo cpst of tho erection of thp Otara bridge A Committee, consisting of Mossrs C. Peraberton, J< J- Bryce, T. Hammond, A, Morgan, W. Marshall, E. Mooro, J. D. McGregor, and J. Stcut, wijbh power to add to their number, were appointed to describe the boundaries of tlio Special Rating District, A Committee mcetiuy was afterwards held, when the boundaries worp 4epide4 on. Mr Marshall was appointed to attend tho next meeting of the Council to explain matters.
