Cricket News.

Members of the local Cricket Club bad a good practice yesterday afternoon. Sides were picked by Messrs Treseder and Levett, resulting in a wiu for the former's side, the scores being 125 and 54 respectively. For the winners the top scorers were Foster 30, Reade 26, Hunter 19, Treseder 11, Innes Jones 7, and for the losers FitzHerbert 15, Parr 11, Wellsnian 8, Bartholomew 7. The result of the gains was mainly due to the effective bowling of tne Rev. Innes Jones, who secured eight wickets and caught one out. Says the Standard : — " There is a probability of the Palinerston-Colyton cricket match of Saturday last becoming the subject of discussion at the next meeting of the committee of the Association. Two of the decisions of Mr Simpson, the Colyton umpire, which garc great dissatisfaction, will come under, review, and an appeal wi}l probably be made against the decision of the umpire in the case of De Lisje. The facts in. the last case were as follows :— W. Ent-. wisle had disabled Rodder with a fast bumpy one, and the batsman had tetixed from ths wicket to recover from the injury. De Lisle, who was bating at the other end, left his crease, walking in Hodder's direction. Entwisle seized the . opportunity to make a feint of deliver* in? a ball, although Hodder was still away from tho wicket, and instead of bowling, which he could have had no intention of doing, whisked off Do Lisle's bail. Whether he was within the rules or not, the action is regarded as a piece of sharp practice and un- ' sportsmanlike.
