The acceptances for the first day of the Feildiug J.C. Spring Meeting are a » great improvement on those of the last Spring Meeting, there being 88, while last year the number was only 55. Blooinshury and Seabreeze were brought down to Feilding by last evening train to receive final preparations for the Feilding Meeting. The Wellington Racing Club's Spring Meeting opens to-morrow, and ■will be continued on Saturday. It is said that Roscius will shortly be shipped to Australia. The victory of Golden Fleece over Bluetire in the four furlong race at the C.J.C. Spring Meeting is attributable to , an error of judgment on the part of Derrett, rider of Bluetire. Mr J. George was, unfortunately, too late in. scuciiiig in his acccptaucc of Prioress and Thunderbolt to the Feilding Jockey Club last night. The wire, from "Wellington, was handed in there at 7 o'clock, being sent to Palmerston, as tho Feilding office is closed after 5 o'clock. A messenger was at once despatched with tho acceptances, but arrived at the meeting room about twenty niiuutes late. He attributed his lateness to a great degree to not being able to find out where the Committee met. After due consideration the Committee decided not to receive the acceptances on tho ground that it might be the cause of future trouble.
