Manawatu County Council.

The ordinary meeting of the above council was held at Sanson on Wednesday. Present — Crs Ransom (chair), -Wilson, Masters, Taylor, Robinson, Strang, and Hammond. The minutes of the previous meeting having been read and confirmed, the following correspondence was read and dealt with:— From E. G. Cox, agreeing to undertake the valuing of the Manawatu County for the ensuing triennial period for the sum of .£6O. From J. H. Luxford, re his intention to erect a fence near the Oroua river on railway reserve at Oroua Bridge. From J. H. Hankins, xc preparing conveyance to the Council of a portion of Mr J. Bull's property for road proposed. From the Wirokino Highways Board, requesting that in Anew of the proposed metalling contracts it is apprehended that the bulk of the metal will be carried over the Shannon Ferry road, which will sustain considerable damage thereby, and requesting that the Council should hold themselves responsible for any such damage. From A. R. Maokay, ro his patent for protection of river banks. From Colonial Secretary's office, acknowledging receipt of letter forwarding result of poll fox a loan of .£250. From Mr Gießcn, re furze on the Feikling road.— -Referred to the Inspector to deal with. TENDERS. The tenders were opened and the fol< lowing accented : — No. 1| trimming and metalling 344 chains, Foxton-Shannon road— P. Crouin's tender was accepted. No. 2, trimming and metalling 151 chains on Bulls-Feilding road— F. L. Behrent, .£1 5s 6d, accepted. No. 3, trimming, metalling, and claying 91 J chains on Campion's liue— l3oylo and Austin, XX 11s Cd per chain, accopted. No. 4, forming and culver ting 36 chains on Phillips streot, Sauson— J. Thoinp* spn, p8 6ct, accepted, SPECIAL MIOKTING. The ordinary meeting was adjourned and a special meeting was held for the purpose of confirming a special ordor made at the previous meeting. Proposed by Cr Masters, seconded by Cr Ransom, That tho resolution adopted at a special meeting held on the lOtli October, 1894, striking three-eighths of a penny in the £ on the rateable value of all tho rateable pr'oporty'withiu iho McDonnell Special Rating District for tho purpose of paying interest and sinkiug fund ou a loan of £200, to bo raised under tho Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, be now confirmed.— Carried. Proposed by Cr Wilson, seconded by Cr Taylor, "That the resolution adopted at a special meeting held on October 10th, 1894, striking a special rate of fivesixteenths of a penny in the £ on all tho rateable property within the Oroua Special Rating District to provide interest and sinking fund upon a loan of £250, to bo raised under the Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, be now confirmed.;* —Carried, Proposed by Cr Robinson, seconded byCr Taylor, That a deputation of the council visit the Oroua bridge on Saturday, Bth Decomber, to meet neav Mi 1 Cooper's road at 10 o'clock. — Carried. Proposed by Cr Wilson, seconded by Cr- Masters, That tenders be called tor 1 forty chains of metalling on Swaiusou's line; also tenders for completing the metalling ou tbo Sandon-Feilding road to tho linger post. Tenders to be upcucd at tho special meeting on tho 'jytli iust.— Carried.
