Acceptances for the Feildiug races close with the Secretary, Mr E. Goodbehere, on Tuesday next at 8.30. It transpires that Patron's starting for the Melbourne Cup was extremely problematical. Hot bandages were applied to his suspicious forelegs on the morning of tho race, which were fortunately effectual. The largest stake winners at the Canterbury J.C Spring Meeting were : Mr S. Bradley, £1157 2s ; Mr G. G. Stead, £960 9s ; Mr M. Hobbs, £829 7s ; Sir G. Clifford, £636 10s ; Mr J. Jaul, £340. mmmmm
