The Heroine is insured for iv the Victorian office, L 940 of which is reinsured. Napier This Day. The schooner Heroine, asboro near Hokitika, arrived hero iv August in a battered condition after a tempestous voyage from Sydney. The cost of her repairs and refitting were about L4OO. Wellington. This Day Arrived -At noon, the Gothic, from London, via the Cape and Hobart. Chbistchubch, November 13. The Hon. .J. Carroll returned from the West Coast this morning. The Hon J. McKenzie returned from Cheviot this evening and states that be is greatly pleased with what he saw of the settle rnent. On Monday night he was present at a largely attended meeting at which various matters affecting the welfare of the settlement were discussed. He suggested that settlers should take steps to form a County so as to be able to control their own locnl affairs.
