CONTINUATION OF THE ENQUIRY. (PBB PRESS ASSOCIATION ) Auckland, November 12 At the enquiry, James Pipe, a saloon passenger, said he spoke to tho Captain frequently on Sunday, and he was quite sober. When ou tho rocks the chief officer seemed to show utter indifference to anything that was going on. The passengers seemed to do all the work. Did not notico what the second officer did. Tho evidence of James Tripe, Frank Tarley, Charles Chapman, Frank Leighton, Daniel Roberts, Owen Monaghau, passengers, was taken. It was to the effect that the captain was iv his usual condition and perfectly sober. As to the conduct of the officers, the evidence was conflicting, some stating no general word of command or energy was shown, other than the officers did their duty as far as possible. Nothing important was elicited.

The Union Steamship Company replaces tho Wairarapa by the Monowai, which will bo withdrawn from the San Francisco service, being replaced there by tho Arawa. At the Wairarapa enquiry Mrs Buckletou said she overheard a conversation between the Captain and the chief officer, which gave her the impression the Captain was telling tho chief officer to save himself. Ten miuutes later the Captain put up both hands, and, facing the ocean, he dived into the waves. It was a deliberate dive.
