New Schools at Pemberton and Beef Creek.
«, Messrs T. Moffatt and E. Moore waited on the Wauganui Education Board yesterday with respect to the establishment of schools at Rangiwahia and Beof Creek, and, after hearing the deputation, the Board resolved, that Messrs Sauson and Fry visit the district and report on the requirements generally. The Peinberton school is fifteen miles beyond Birmingham, and the new school applied for at Beef Creek would be between two and three miles on th© Feilding Bide. It would be attended, as shown by the petition presented in support of the application, by over thirty children who now, that is, if they all went to the Pemberton school, pass the proposed site on their way, On the ether side, the parents of something over forty children want a school at Kaugiwahia, which is about two miles beyond Pemberton. If the application is granted tho Pemberton school will have to be i removed as the two new schools would absorb almost all the scholars. The settlers interested are very anxious' that their children should attend school, but, wo are informed on reliable authority, the roads are so bad in winter that the attendance is so low that the school has been closed on several occasions to keep up tho average. The petition for the Beef Creek School contained eleven signatures, representing about thirtychildren, and the Raugiwahia petition had eighteen or twenty signatures, representing about forty children.
