The Returning Officer of the Borough Mr G C, Hill, gives notice that he has appointed Saturday the 17th iust. as the day on which he will receive nominations of candidates for the positiou of Mayor for the ensuing term In this connection several ratepayers have expressed a wish that the candidates should give 6Oiuo public expression of their views aud opinions on the atate of the affairs of the Borough, also a forecast of any changes or improvements any candidate may have to suggest or intends to inaugurate during his term, if elected. By adopting this course the ratepayers would be enabled to havo a direct voice for or ngninst any proposals for the future, and thus let the iucoming Mayor knowto what extent he would have tho support of tho public iv his policy.
