Volunteer Items.
The Manchester Rifles will parade this afternoon at G.tfO sharp for inspection by Licut.-Col. Newall, The inspection by Colonel Fox will take place on "Wednesday, December 12tb, and the corps will be put through volley firing on tho following mornipg, commencing at 6 o'clock, The following circular has been issued to officers commanding companies : — Extract, Circular 27, of Ist November 1894.— The Volunteer year will cud on the 28th February next, and, iv future, the volunteer year will end on the last day of that month. All claims for capitation etc., must reach Defence Office not later than the 15th of March in each year. Extract Circular 28, of Ist November, 189-4.— After the last day of the present volunteer year the usual grant of 100 rounds of ammunition per man to members of Rifle Clubs, will be discontinued. Extract Circular 29, of Ist November, 1894.— The Hon. Defence Minister has decided that the shipment of MartiniHenri Rifles recently received from Home are to be distributed iv the proportion of 10 to each of the Rifle Corps an the colony, and the Defence storekeeper has received instructions accordingly* Class A, Manchester Rifles, will take part in the competition at the usual hours to-morrow.
