THE FEILDING BRASS BAND.

TO THK KDITOII o*' THE STAR. Sir, —Will you kiudly allow me a space in your valuable columns to inquire a little about what lias become of our local Brass Band ? It seems ages since our townspeople heard any of their open air coucerts, or even heard them practising anywhere. Have they fallen through, or what is tho reason? Not long ago we were proud of our Band when they played at tho contest held here. But why havo they vanished like this ? Is it because they have no instrumeuts, no men, no place to practice, no rotunda to give open air concerts in, no bandmaster or conductor, or no money to buy music '? Why don't the Band chaps rally round and give us sonic music '? I know thcro are ono or two members who would like to bo driven to practico in a carriage, but never mind them, do without them. What sounds nicer than a baud playing? Take any place of amusement you like, what is it without a Band'? If you think I am not intruding let me suggest a week-night open air concert, or a sacred concert on a Sunday afternoon, or even a Sunday morning church pa rade. Why should not Foilding show talent for brass instrumental music as well as those in the South. If the Band is behind as regards finance, the summer season is now here and I am sure the public would willingly donate to hear sonic music during the summer evenings. I am, etc., Resident. Fcildiuj, November iith, 189-1.
