Apiti Sports.
I From Our Own Correspondent ] A meeting of those interested iv having sports in Apiti was held in tho Pubr lie Hall on Saturday last. Mr A. Cartwright was voted to tho chair. The gentlemen who had been requested to sec if a suitablo site could be procured reported that thej' had been successful, Mr Donald McKenzie having offered a suitable paddock. Resolved, That the secretary write to Mr McKenzie, thanking him for his offer, and informing him that tho committee had decided to hold the sports on his ground on New Year's Day. The following wero appoiuled a general committee: — Messrs H. Woollend, J. Perry, J. Garrick, T. Thompson, W. Wilson, J. Johnston, A. Logan, H. Liddie, E. Burns, E. F. Eagar, A. Cartwright, H, Snow, C. Dally, H. Osbornc, J. Geange, C. W. Monckton, R. Withers, aud C Randall. The following appointments were made : — President, Mr W. Vicary ; vicepresidents, Messrs H. Varley, H. Snow, aud E. F. Eagar : secretary, Mr Adam Oartwright ; treasurer, Mr E. F. Eagar ; executive, Messrs Woollend, Thompson, Logau, and Osborne ; haudicappcr, Mr H. S. Munro ; starter, Mr Hugh Osborne ; judge, Mr R. L. Burton ; referee, Mr E. Bttfus ; time-keeper, Mr H. Snow. Resolved, That all tho advertising be dono in the Fkiloino Star. The Secretary, on behalf of the subcommittee, submitted a programme comprising about 20 events, aud giving away the handsome sum of about MO, which, with a few alterations, was adopted and ordered to be published in the Feilding Star as soon as possible. The Secrotary was instructed to draw up some subscription lists and hand them to members appointed. Resolved, That a " working bee " be held on 16fch aud 17th November to prepare track, &c. Resolved, That the next mooting be held on 17th November. The usual vote to the chairman brought a very successful first meeting to a closo.
