» (Per Press Association.) Auckland, October 30. The Crown Lands Board resolved to forfeit the whole of the Great Barrier silver mining leases for nonfulfilment of working conditions. Owing to the Crown Lands Board having intimated the intention of forfeiting the sections for non-pay-ment of rent the Minister of Lands, through the Surveyor- General, has asked the Board to carefully consider each case before enforcing the forfeiture. At the inquiry to-day before MrCarew, Coroner, and jury to\iching the fire on the Mararoa on the 17th inst. the jury returned a verdict that the Mararoa was wiltully set on fire, but there wai not sufficient evidence to show by whom The Directors of the National Insurance Company have declared a dividend at the i rnte of 15 per cent for the half-year, making a total of £14,707 12a 6d for the year.
