West Coast A. and P. Show.

The annual Agricultural Show, which commenced to-day promises to be the most successful ever held in tbe North Island. The total entries number 1134, being seventy more than were received last year. This is the record for the North Island. The display of sheep, particularly Romney Marsh, Lincolns and fat sheep is a goqd one. The exhibits in Romney Marsh number 125, and Lincolns 68. There is a falling off in ths entries of cattle, but the Ayrshire, shorthorns, aud Jerseys should make a good display. As usual the entries of horses are large, especially of hacks, there being 23 theroughbreds, and 23 draughts. Five thoroughbred stallions are exhibited, including Forester, who has carried off the championship two years in succession. Sou-wester, Haere, Flinders and Boulanger are his opponents. There are six draught stallions entered. Manager, who has beaten all comers at the last two shows, is again a competitor. The hunters' competition, which is set down for to-morrow, should be very interesting, as there are no fewer than 26 horses entered. Pigs are represented by the same number of exhibits as last year - 31. Poultry is only a small •lass. The dogs make an excellent show there being 71 entries, the majority being sheep doge and fox terriora. About 90 vehicles will be shown. Farming and dairy produce and industrial exhibits are again a large class, the entries numbering 119, an advance of 43 on last last year. The display of implements is ouo of the features of the show, the entries numbering 286, nearly 100 more than was received last year. All the leading southern aud local firms are exhibitors. All that is wanted to make the show a great success is fine weather, but at preseut it looks very threatening.
