The Appeal Court.

(Per Press Association). Wellington, October 22 The Appeal Court unanimously di«missed the appeal in the case of Ebrenreid v. Kenny and others without calling on counsel for respondents to argue. The Court held that the effect of section 18 of the Alcoholic Liquors Act is that after a void poll the number of licenses grantable remain as before, but the committee has power at its first meeting to refuse tbe renewal of any particular license on any ground under section 81 of the Licensing Act, 1881. The Court held further that the Committee in this case had evidence before it on which it was justified in refusing a license on the ground that the house was insufficiently finished. Costs were allowed to the Committee on the middle scale.
