The recall of Colonel Yanoft from the Pamirs has been ordered by telegraph in order to avoid giving offence to England. Washington, Oct. 17. Calcutta. October 17. News from Simla does not confirm the reported death of the Ameer. A report is current among the natives at Lahore that the Ameer is dead, and that with his last words he exhorted his son Habibulla to remain friendly to the English.
