(Per Press Association^ Gisbounf, October 10 The Poverty Bay Turf Club's Spring Meeting began to-day. The weather was cold and wintry. The following are the results : — Maiden Stakes — Virago 1, Hopmarkct 2, Persian 8. Three others ran. Won by a length and a half. Time, lmin 21sec. Dividend, £2. Maiden Scurry— Probate 1 . Dividend, £10 2s. Spring Handicap — Mahaki 1, St. Kilda 2, Lord Raven 8. Won easily by a length and a half. Time, 2miu 10 8-ssec. Dividend, £2 Is. Short's Handicap - Porirua 1, Tidgot 2, Treemy 3. Dividend, ±1 18s. Hurdles - New Year 1, Beauty 2, Dainty 8. Dividend, £15 7s. A magnificent race. Flying Handicap —Mahaki 1, The Sharper 2, Poiusettia 8. Won by a head. Dividend, £1 10s. The Turk won the Hack Hurdles, aud Hopmarkot tho Hack Flat, paying dividends of £3 3s and £9 12s.
