Fire Prevention.
The Committee appointed to canvass the Borough for financial support towards the Fire Brigade met last evening at Mr Bray's office. Present — Messrs W. Carthew (in the chair), C. Bray, senr., A. Eado, H. Bastings, C. Bray, junr., E. Goodbehere, Peter Thomson, A. R. Allan, J. Cobbe, and H. Worsfold. The Committee reported that the sum of £81 had been collected and promised 1 (this is iv addition to £3-k which the Brigade has in hand.) A resolution was passed recommending the Brigade to keep the engine at the well, to be covered with a tarpaulin, for the present. A sub-coinmitteo was appointed to consider the advisabilty of sinking more wells, and where to sink them, the report to be submitted at a meeting to be held on Tuesday next.
