THE APITI BRIDGE.

Thk Palmerston Standard endorses our views on tbe subject of a bridge over the Oroua river at Apiti and says this morning, " This is a work which does not come within the category of merely district requirements, for it is the key to a vast area of Crown lands just being opened for settlement, or which have only recently been sold, and the selectors of which have taxed themselves heavily by means of special rates to make roads thereto. The Minister of Education visited the locality and was fully satisfied of the urgency of the work, and the Minister of Lands has several times expressed himself in favor of assisting the settlers in question, co that the omission of a vote on the Estimates is incomprehensible " This does not tally with what Mr StHvens, the member for Rangitikei, wired us on Saturday, but now the Ministry have been reminded of their forgotten pledge it may be fulfilled yet.
