Entertainment at Colyton.

Perhaps one of the most successful concerts ever held m the Public Hall ai Colston was given last evening by the Church of England people. The coneerl commenced shortly after eight by a piano' forte aolo by Miss Garlick and her rendi. « tion of it showed good training. The . next item was a duet, entitled " What arc 1 the Wild Waves Saying," by Miss Fleas- ■ ants and Mr Trobeck. Miss Diamond gave a very nice interpretation of (Ponlet's) "Love Tide," and bad to respond tc l an undeniable encore with " A Summei . Shower." The Bey. Innes Jones came ' next with "The Holy City" (Stephen Adams), wbioh was rendered in his usual j style. Miss Alice Gould gave a rendering i of the song "Ring on Sweet Angelus. 1 i This young singer has a very nice voice and we may hear more from her in the . future. The next to follow on was Mi i F. W. Treseder who sang " The Brave Sentinel " (Rodney), and for an encore sang •• Mrs 'Enery 'Awkins." After this i the chairman announced the next item [ supper, which was acknowledged by one f and all to be one ot the best items on the i programme as there were several cries oi " Encore " after it had been announced The second part opened with a pianoforte , duet by the Misses Garhck entitled " Fairy Wedding Waltz." After this item the chairman made a few remarks appropriate ; to the occasion and remarked that as the i church people had made such a good start he hoped that it would not be the last social of the kind and that they would make it an annual attain Miss Brunette sang " Maid of Athens " (Judge), in very nice style. Mr W. H. Tong rendered " The Old Brigade " but has been heard to better advantage. Miss Diamond next gave the song •• The Two Pictures " and by her singing of it a decided encore was demanded which, however, was not acceded to on account of that lady having a violent cold. Mr Pleasants gave us a " Modern Sermon " and his get up was immense, the last item on the programme was "Oh, Oh, Hear the Wild Wind Blow " (Pontet) by Mr F. W. Treseder and for an encore he gave " Do, Do, My Huckleburj, Do." In conclusion we must not forget Mr S. Moore who rendered valuable assistance during the concert in accompanying in his usual good style. The concert concluded with the National Anthem, the whole audience rising and joining in,
