Messrs Abraham and Williams stock report: — We had a full yard of both cattle and sheep at Palmerston yesterday. Buyers acted with extreme caution throughout notwithstanding the seasonable growth of grass. Business under the hammer dragged considerably ; the greater portion of the business dons in sheep was effected privately. The firm attitude taken by purchasers certainly had a steadying effect upon trade which though unpleasant for the time doubtless does good ultimately. On the whole however a considerable portion of the entry changed hands Sheep — Sound ewes with large percent' age of lambs, 12s 6d ; good quality hoggets, 10s sd, 10s 9d. 10s lid; fair to medium, 8s 9d to 9s 9d ; others 7s 4d to 8s 3d ; shorn fat wethers, 10s 3d ; shorn ewes and wethers, 9s 6d, Cattle— Fat bullocks, £8 ; lighter weights, £6 10s to £7 ; prime fat cows, £6 12s ; forward bullocks, £5 6d ; 3^ year ■teers, £4 19s ; 2 year steers, £3 11s ; 2to 2£ year steers, L 3 to L3 l4s ; mixed yearlings, L 2 4b to L 2 9s ; mixed cattle, 18---month, L 2 17s ; weaners, 34b 6d to 40s ; breedings cows, L 3 12s 6d; 18* month heifers, L 2 15s 6d. Messrs F. R. Jackson and Co. Johnsonville report: — We had our full complement of cattle yarded. The bullocks were of fair quality, while some were small aud only half fat. Prices were without quotable change, Sheep were aot well competed for, and were at low values. We had a large entry. Ouly a few pigs came forward. Wo quote : — Cattle. — Forward cattle made L 8 2s 6d to L 9 os; others, L 7 10s to L 8; small cattle, L6 loa to L 7 os, equal to 22a per lOOlbs.
