Accidents and Fatalities.
(Per Press Association). Auckland, This Day. William Smith, aged 44, a gumdigger at Rakotu, was badly burned by his hut catching fire. While being removed to Auckland ho died. Dunkdin, October 11. The boys Gould, Russells, and North, who left Waikouaiti in a fisherman's boat, have turned up at Milton after landing at Taiaroa Heads. The boys appear to have made their way along the sea coast. Napier, Oct. 11. Jas. Hallatt, an old settler at Meanee, shot himself with a rifle at an early honr this morning. He had been in depressed spirits for some time past. Edric Laurvig, a child two years old, son of a settler at Cliye, died suddenly to-day. An inquest will be held.
