v — (PER PRESS ASSOCIAIONJ. London. October 7. At the Leicester Races the Royal Handicap resulted as follows : Soult 1, Simony 11. 2, Pomade Divine 3. Melbourne, October 8. Dan O'Brien left Launceßton and Response at Randwick. During the day the card was called over, both at the Victorian Club and at Bowe's Tattersails, the only business being done at the former betting bourse being the acceptance of 300 to 18, and subsequently 700 to 40 about Theodore for the Caulfield Cup. Atßowes,' Capstan, Bruin, and Theodore were equal favorites at 100 to 7 offered. 800 to 40 was accepted about Paris. 100 to 5 is the best offer against Staightfire and Fortunatus, and 200 to 9 against Miraculeux, tbe winner of the principal Handicap Flat Race at the Hunt Club Meeting. The following scratchings are posted : Caulfield Cup— First Queen, Glenbuntly, Shotbolt. Melbourne Cup— Shotbolt. Miraculeux won a mile and a quarter race on Saturday, with consummate ease, with half a stone over his Caulfield Cup weight^^^^^^^^^
