Iv the Supreme Court to-day an application by a gardener named McMahon to have bis name remoyed from the list of contributors in the Australian City and Suburban Investment Banking Company's now in liquidation, was heard. Mr Bent maintained that neither he nor McMahon were liable ; that he had retained a thou* Band shares at the request of a certain j^riau^ial compauy, which was to pay calls in 'order' 'lhaJ;* he (Mr Bent) could act as chairman. The ff.urlg# 'considered the explanation absurd and incredible and gavo judgement Hgainst Mr Beat.
Anniversary services in connection with tbe Birmingham Wesloyau Church I will bo hold ou Sunday next. The Rev. T. R. Richards will preach in the morn-ing,'-afternoon and evening. On Wednesday ave-oiag a tea will be hold in the Town Hall, to bo followed by a'ceucori iv the church.
