Mr Bent maintained that neither he nor McMahon were liable ; that he had retained a thou* Band shares at the request of a certain j^riau^ial compauy, which was to pay calls in 'order' 'lhaJ;* he (Mr Bent) could act as chairman. The ff.urlg# 'considered the explanation absurd and incredible and gavo judgement Hgainst Mr Beat.
Anniversary services in connection with tbe Birmingham Wesloyau Church I will bo hold ou Sunday next. The Rev. T. R. Richards will preach in the morn-ing,'-afternoon and evening. On Wednesday ave-oiag a tea will be hold in the Town Hall, to bo followed by a'ceucori iv the church.
