PRESIDENT OF THE BANK OF NEW ZEALAND.
Although the report has been circulated, "on the best authorrity," and as authoritatively contradicted, yet at last we are officially informed that Mr Watson, the Inspector of the Colonial Bank of New Zealand, has been appointed President of the Bank of New Zealand. We do not supposs that there is a man in the colony better qualified for the position than Mr Watson. He has had large experience in banking, and possesses very high financial ability. Now that this much-vexed question has been definitely settled, we may look for a better state of affairs in the money market in the Colony, because the status of the Bank of New Zealand has been vastly improved and public confidence will, therefore, be restored. With such a man at the head of affairs the future success of the Bank may be looked on as assured.
