Messrs Abraham and Williams herse report :— Thefirst of the regularly weekly horse sales we intend establishing at Palmerston was held on Saturnay. A fairly numerous entry came forward considering. The class was on average with recent sales except that practically draugts were unrepresented. Bidding was somewhat slow at first, but soon improved as the sale progressed the bulk therefore found purchasers. Hacks ■which were of second rate quality only made from £5 5s to £9; others, £3 10s to £2 17s 6d ; crocks, £2 2s 6d. A. G. Taine's Wellington report :— At Lower Hutt last Tuesday we held our regular monthly sale. There was a good entry of dairy cows and heifers and young cattle. We sold a line of springing heifers at .£4 18s, and a number of cows close to calving at £5 to £1\ others, backward in condition but good sorts' in lines at £5 to £4 10s : aged cows, from £2 10s to £4 ; young steers, .£3 ; young j heifers and weaners, 80s to 365 ; store pigs, slips, 8s to 9s ; three months old ditto, up to 11s, with a good demand ; 14s was refused for a small line of fat owes. On Wednesday we held a special sale of draught horses from Oamaru, in our yards. We sold eight at prices ranging from £18 10s to £28a, and one particularly good five-year-old mare elicited keen competition, changing bands at £80. The horses were all heavy but mostly aged. The harness brought £2 15s to £3 5s for leading harness, and a good set of cart harness brought £5. We expect another lot of good draughts from the south next week, described as a first-class lot, which will be offered on Saturday, the 18th, in our yards.
