(PEE PRKSS ASSOCIATION). Auckland, October 5. Tho death is announced of tho Rev, Gideon Smiles, one of the oldest pioneers of the WesleyaH missionaries in the north. Ho come out from Bristol in tho missionary bri£, Victoria, in 1839 with a large party of missionaries, for Bpw Zealand and the South Sea Islands. The party included the Revs. Buddie, Buttle, Aldred. H. A Turton nnd Skervin<?tou, Mr Smiles beins* the last survivor of tho party. In 1856 ho retirrd from the mission work to his farm at East Tamaki, where he died. The Alamedahas arrived. Among the passengers is Mrs Annie Beaa nt, the tbcosophißtic celebrity. Wellington, October 5. At a meeting of tho creditor* of Mr An dr«»w Y"iin», the debtor snid hia eon would offer 6d in tho £, provided that tho bankrup cv was annulled. This was ac cep:ed subject to coritirraatiou at another meeting.
